Georgia State University chemistry student Joanna Quaye recently received the Ambrose H. Pendergrast Fellowship. Named for a former professor in the Department of Chemistry, the Ambrose H. Pendergrast Fellowship is awarded to an outstanding doctoral student in the area of medicinal chemistry/biochemistry.

Georgia State University student Md Shamim recently received the David W. Boykin Graduate Fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry. The David W. Boykin Graduate Fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry was established in 1999 to honor the former chair of the Department of Chemistry. It is awarded to an outstanding Ph.D. student in medicinal chemistry.

This fund supports masters or doctoral-level candidates, and recipients exhibit exceptional academic and individual achievements as well as financial need.

The Nell Hamilton Trotter Student Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding commitment to student involvement and is the highest student leadership award presented by the university. For nearly 40 years, Nell Hamilton Trotter was a loyal member of the Georgia State University community. She was the first dean of women at Georgia State and served for many years as a dedicated faculty member. Dean Nell Hamilton Trotter personified the ideal qualities students, particularly student leaders, are expected to emulate.
