This scholarship was established in memory of Daniel Sansone, son of Joseph Sansone, founder and CEO of Pediatria Healthcare, LLC and former advisory board member of the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions. The Daniel J. Sansone Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student interested in pediatric nursing or respiratory therapy.

This award is given by the faculty to graduating seniors and master's candidates. The award recognizes students who have displayed outstanding performance in clinical rotations.

The Faculty Recognition Award is presented to graduating respiratory therapy students who, in the opinion of the faculty, exhibit a positive professional attitude and a willingness to serve the needs of classmates, the community, and the profession of respiratory therapy.

This award is given to the individual in the Department of Physical Therapy who provides ongoing, dynamic leadership and guidance to his or her class.

This award recognizes a graduating Respiratory Therapy student or students with the highest GPA achieved in the respiratory therapy progam.

This award, established in memory of James Ancil Lewis, honors his exemplary work in respiratory therapy: from his graduation in 1973 until his death in 1992. This award is given to a junior(s) in the program who exemplifies Mr. Lewis' characteristics of service to others, particularly in clinical work and direct patient care.

The Professional Merit Award is presented to the student or students who has/have most actively participated in professional activities within the community and who demonstrates high standards of professionalism.

This award recognizes the students who have made an outstanding contribution to the research efforts of the Department of Physical Therapy and who exhibit potential of becoming significant contributors to the field of physical therapy research.

In memory of Dr. Virgil Jacobs, former anatomist in the physical therapy program, this award is given to the student who best exemplifies the qualities of intelligence, compassion, fairness, honesty, and sincerity in addition to outstanding scholarly anatomical competence.

This national honor society, established by the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy, recognizes Doctor of Physical Therapy students in their last year of PT school, who have demonstrated excellence, integrity and professionalism in the areas of academic achievement, leadership, service or research, and have demonstrated strong moral character, ethics and the core values of PT profession.

The national honor society for occupational therapy recognizes students for their scholastic excellence and contributions to the advancement of the occupational therapy field.

The Graduate Nursing Student Service Award recognizes a student for outstanding service as the student representative to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.

The Gordon Seagraves Cummings Scholarship/Award recognizes individuals who are both critical thinkers and caring, competent practitioners -- characteristics personified by Professor Gordon Cummings.

This award is given to an outstanding nutrition student in recognition of academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and potential future as a dietetics professional.

The Grady Scholars is a scholarship awarded to undergraduate nursing students who have committed to serving the Atlanta community by practicing at Grady Hospital following graduation.

The Keystone Award is given to a student or students who, through example, maintain the structure and integrity of the class. Awardees demonstrate a strong commitment to the physical therapy profession, are avid patient advocates, and are respected by faculty and peers.

Georgia State University student Sakinah Muhammed-Worsham recently received the Drs. Kennedy and Nettey Premedical Award. Muhammed-Worsham, of Peachtree City, is a Bachelor's student in Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences. This award was established to alleviate financial barriers for students at Georgia State University applying to medical school programs by assisting with funding for admissions test preparation materials. The College of Arts and Sciences provides a skill-based liberal arts and sciences education for Atlanta's diverse, next-generation workforce.

The Occupational Therapy Research Excellence Award goes to the student(s) who makes (made) outstanding contribution to the research efforts of the department and exhibit potential to become a significant contributor in the field of occupational therapy research.

The Occupational Therapy Academic Excellence Award is given to a graduating second year student with a GPA of 4.0 in the occupational therapy program who also exhibits overall academic excellence.

Georgia State University student Meghana Rapelli recently presented research at the Georgia Academy of Science Conference. Rapelli, of Bhadradri Kothagudem, India, is a Master's student in Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Georgia Academy of Science Annual Conference, held recently at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, and dedicated to the promotion of science education and the fostering of scientific research in the state of Georgia. Her presentation was titled, "Sexual dimorphism and phylogeny of the mandibular notch in humans, apes and Fossil hominins." Rapelli prepared the presentation with the help of Frank L. Williams, Professor of Anthropology. The College of Arts and Sciences provides a skill-based liberal arts and sciences education for Atlanta's diverse, next-generation workforce.

Georgia State University student Carolyn Williams recently received the Religious Studies Endowed Scholarship. Williams, of Tucker, is a Bachelor's student in Religious Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. This endowed award was created by Religious Studies alumni to recognize outstanding scholarship and academic potential in an undergraduate major. Pierre, of Auburn, Ga., is a Bachelor's student in World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Sara M. Hunt Clinical Excellence Award is given to a Coordinated Program student who has displayed outstanding performance in the clinical setting.

The Johnnie W. Prothro Academic Excellence Award is given to an undergraduate student in the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions who has achieved a high level of academic excellence in the nutrition program.

Georgia State University recognizes one outstanding nutrition Coordinated Program student each year. Criteria for the award include academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and potential as a future dietetics professional.
