Georgia State University College of Law extends its congratulations to the newest mock trial team of the Student Trial Lawyers Association for the 2023-2024 academic year. Educational leadership doctoral student Latasha Lampkin authored an article entitled, "Using Action Research to Examine the Effect of Collaborative Practices on Student Test Scores," which was published in Educational Research Quarterly.

Kinesiology doctoral student Rebecca Ban is one of 12 Georgia State University students who received one of the university's internal grant awards for dissertations.

Neuroscience student Vishrut Thaker presented at the International American Heart Association to show the effects of mental stress on the heart and how he is creating more space for mental health advocacy, education and wellness across Georgia State University with his organization, MannMukti.

Niki Nourollahi (J.D. '23) has been named the Georgia State University "Study Abroad Student of the Year." Nourollahi is a recent graduate of Georgia State University's College of Law Class of 2023. During her second year of law school, Niki spent her spring semester studying international law at Aarhus University. Niki also previously studied abroad during her undergraduate education at Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business with Toulouse Business School in Toulouse, France for six months. Upon returning to Georgia State Law from Denmark, Niki has maintained relationships with her friends abroad and assisted new international exchange students in Atlanta as they arrived. She is passionate about her study-abroad experience and loves to share with others how the experience has enriched her life. Niki has recently accepted an associate position with Burr & Forman LLP in Atlanta as part of their corporate and tax practice group, with a concentration in securities transactional work. Teaching and learning doctoral student Justice Ejike has been selected for one of 15 highly competitive annual fellowships with the Community for Advancing Discovery Research in Education, a resource network for STEM education researchers supported by the National Science Foundation.

Georgia State University communication sciences and disorders student Calia Howse was selected to participate in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's (ASHA) Minority Student Leadership Program at the 2023 ASHA Convention.

The first John Lewis Scholarship, which was endowed at Georgia State University in 2022 to honor the legacy of the long-time U.S. Representative and civil rights icon, has been awarded to Mitchell Harris, a Class of 2026 political science undergraduate student.

The Eleanor McEdwards International Opportunity Scholarship is a study abroad scholarship awarded annually to an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. The scholarship was established by Dr. Colleen McEdwards and Scott Burnside in honor of her mother, Eleanor McEdwards, who was dedicated to creating and promoting opportunities for international travel and study among young people. Because of Eleanor's dedication, Dr. McEdwards was able to participate in study abroad programs throughout the former Soviet Union, and then went on to become an anchor and correspondent for CNN International.

Thirty-five rising second-year students will join Georgia State University Law Review for the 2023-2024 term. Georgia State Law students become members of Law Review by invitation, based on exceptional academic standing and performance in a rigorous writing competition. The submitted academic papers are graded by the executive board.

Georgia State University's College of Law conferred degrees to more than 190 students at the end of the spring 2023 semester. Law graduates were honored during the college's hooding ceremony on May 12, 2023, at the Georgia State University Convocation Center.

The Hollingsworth Scholarship supports first-year students in the master's degree program in gerontology. Georgia State University student Larry Hardy recently received the Anne M. Eaton Endowed Scholarship. To receive this scholarship students must show potential for leadership in the field of aging,have achieved outstanding success academically, and demonstrated a commitment to improving the quality of life for older people.

Georgia State University student Erreannau Zellous recently received the Carol Rowe-Jones and Waymon Jones Scholarship Endowment. This scholarship supports outstanding gerontology students (undergraduate & graduate) and may be used for tuition, books, room, board, and other associated expenses.
