Mary Helen Huggins Memorial Scholarship in Sport Administration

Taylor Buis and Bryant Hedgeman received the Mary Helen Huggins Memorial Scholarship in Sport Administration from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. Named for Mary Helen Huggins, the former Marketing Services Director for the Atlanta Braves and faculty member in the CEHD's Department of Kinesiology and Health, this award is presented to active graduate students in sport administration.

Joanne R. Nurss Endowed Scholarship in Life-Long Literacy

Ethan Tinh Trinh received the Joanne R. Nurss Endowed Scholarship in Life-Long Literacy from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. Joanne R. Nurss spent most of her career at Georgia State educating teachers and working in programs for young children, adult literacy and English language learners. She was directly responsible for the early establishment and success of the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education. This scholarship supports a graduate-level student who has a focus in life-long literacy.

Established by Jeff Rupp, associate professor in the CEHD's Department of Kinesiology and Health from 1985-2011, and Debbie Rupp, associate director of recreational programs from 1987-2010, this award is presented to a student in the Department of Kinesiology and Health's exercise science program.

Andrew Corbett received the Roslyn Hirsch Balbirer Memorial Scholarship from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. This award is named for Roslyn Hirsch Balbirer, who was a passionate consumer of the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta and a dedicated advocate of the value and benefits of sport participation for people with a disability. It's given to a graduate student enrolled in the CEHD's Department of Kinesiology and Health who has a commitment to advancing opportunities in physical activity, sport for individuals with a disability, and who demonstrates the potential to advance the field of adapted physical activity or sport administration.

2021 Eli A. Zubay Actuarial Science Award

The late Dr. Eli A. Zubay co-founded Georgia State University's Actuarial Science Program in 1958. This award recognizes academic excellence and is presented annually to the undergraduate actuarial science major with the highest overall grade-point average. Recipients must have accumulated at least 60, but no more than 90 semester credit hours, and must have completed at least 12 semester credit hours of actuarial science coursework with no grade lower than a "B."
