Alana Owens received the Karen and George McCarty Scholarship from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. This scholarship was established by Karen McCarty, a two-time graduate of Georgia State University, and is given to a graduate student in the clinical mental health counseling program and/or school counseling program to build their networks, knowledge and skills by attending local, state and national professional conferences related to their area of counseling expertise.

Several students received the Kenneth and Mary Matheny Professional in Counseling and Psychology Scholarship from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. This award, established by Ken Matheny, a faculty member in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services for 45 years, and his wife, Mary Matheny, is given to full-time doctoral students in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services.

This fund was established by Georgia State alumna Kay Craigie to provide support to Ph.D. students in the college working to thwart terrorism and protect democracy. Whitney Campbell received the Dean's Excellence Award in Early Childhood Special Education in Memory of Ann Dixon Demonet from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. Ann Dixon Demonet attended Georgia State and received a master's degree in special education. After graduating, she taught special education in Georgia and Michigan, where she was known by all as an exceptional educator. While living in Georgia, she was recognized by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as an outstanding educator in the Atlanta area. This award was established by Seth Leibler and Ann Parkman and is given to a student pursuing a graduate degree in special education with a concentration in early childhood special education.

Jaleh Davari received the Karen Lopp Memorial Scholarship from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. This scholarship, named for CEHD alumnus Karen Lopp, is awarded to a student in recognition of their commitment to multicultural issues and social injustice through advocacy and service.

Kyndel Tarziers received the JoAnna F. White Play Therapy Scholarship from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. JoAnna F. White, former department chair of the college's Department of Counseling and Psychological Services, began the play therapy training program during her tenure. This scholarship is presented to a graduate student in good standing in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services who is dedicated to the study and clinical practice of play therapy.

Anahi Calderon received the Felicia and Rodney Mayfield Scholarship from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. This award, established by three-time Georgia State alumna Felicia Mayfield and her husband, Rodney, is given to a deserving undergraduate student in the College of Education & Human Development.

Caleb Collier and Ashlei Rabess received the Dean's Graduate Student Award for Commitment to the Discipline from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. This award recognizes the activities of graduate students who demonstrate a commitment to their academic disciplines.

Casey Turner received the Hayden-Waltz Doctoral Dissertation Award from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. Established by Melvin and Lucy Hayden in honor of their respective parents, this award is presented to a doctoral student whose proposed dissertation exhibits originality, clarity and effectiveness in the presentation of ideas, quality writing and contributes to the future scholarly productivity of their field.

This award is made annually to a graduate student who has been an outstanding instructor in the Department of Psychology. It is named for Walter F. Daves, a professor in the department from 1966-1997 and chair 1989-1994. Three students received the College of Education & Human Development Scholarship from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. This scholarship recognizes individuals with outstanding accomplishments in the CEHD. Undergraduate and graduate students who receive this scholarship must have completed at least 30 hours of coursework in the CEHD, be in good standing and show a pattern of department/program involvement or scholarship.

Bond, of Deer Park, N.Y., is a Ph.D. student in psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences. Former Dean Lauren B. Adamson and her husband, Walter L. Adamson, established this scholarship for high achieving students who have not had the opportunity to travel abroad for study. The scholarship was established in honor of Lauren Adamson's mother, Teresa Nash Bernstein, a teacher, artist, and world traveler. This award is made annually to an outstanding graduate student in the Department of Psychology who has excelled in their professional development, teaching, and service. It is named for Richard Morrell, a talented clinical graduate student, who died tragically in an airplane crash in Africa in 2003. Georgia State University student Michelle Fox has received the Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award in psychology. Fox, of Deerfield, IL, is a psychology Ph.D. student in the College of Arts & Sciences. This award is made annually to a graduate student who has shown outstanding development and ability in the use of statistics in psychology. It is named for Percival Rogers Bakeman (1882-1932), a graduate of Brown University, who was regarded as something of a polymath. He was a professor at Shanghai College, where he distinguished himself as the only American to lecture routinely in Chinese. The John Warkentin Memorial Award is made annually to a graduate student showing outstanding potential in psychotherapy as well as financial need. John Warkentin was a psychiatrist in Atlanta who died in 1983. He and his wife, who was a clinical psychologist, were strong supporters of the psychotherapy program in the 1970s.

Georgia State University student Leigh Holbrook has received the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award from the Department of Religious Studies.

Georgia State University student Melvin Douglas has received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the Department of Religious Studies in recognition of academic achievement.

The Fulbright fellowship gives students an opportunity to immerse themselves in a host country's customs and culture while they conduct individually designed research projects or serve as English teaching assistants. Fellows in this competitive program receive grants that allow them to participate in a cultural exchange through interactions based in the classroom, home and community.

The Dr. Colquitt L. "Buck" Chandler Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established by the CLC Foundation in memory of Dr. Chandler, a successful Atlanta dentist, real estate investor, and philanthropist. The scholarship is awarded to Ph.D. candidates in the Department of Real Estate selected by a committee that includes the department chair.
