Torressa Smith received the Adell Street Adams Memorial Scholarship from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. Vivian Street established this scholarship in memory of her sister, College of Education & Human Development alumnus and celebrated high school chemistry teacher Adell Street Adams. This scholarship supports an exceptional CEHD student pursuing a degree in science education.

The late Dr. Eli A. Zubay co-founded Georgia State University's Actuarial Science Program in 1958. This award recognizes academic excellence and is presented annually to the undergraduate actuarial science major with the highest overall grade-point average. Recipients must have accumulated at least 60, but no more than 90 semester credit hours, and must have completed at least 12 semester credit hours of actuarial science coursework with no grade lower than a "B."

During the course of a year, approximately one-third of the College's Ph.D. students teach one or more course sections as Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs). These awards are given to recognize those GTAs with outstanding teaching records and performance in the classroom during the preceding calendar year.

Georgia State University student Monica Bwalya has been awarded the Thomas and Wendy Reiman Endowed Scholarship. Bwalya, of Stone Mountain, is a journalism major in the College of Arts & Sciences. The Thomas and Wendy Reiman Endowed Scholarship provides support to undergraduates who have reached the junior or senior level in the College and are majoring in the humanities. Marissa Christie received the Bradford and Patricia Ferrer Scholarship in Middle Childhood Education from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. Bradford and Patricia Ferrer are Georgia State graduates and have been dedicated supporters in various roles for many years. This award supports students majoring and excelling in middle-level education.

Georgia State University student Jean Louis Mendy has received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award in recognition of academic achievement in World Languages and Cultures. Mendy, of Woodstock, is a French studies graduate student in the College of Arts & Sciences. Georgia State University student Anne Werkheiser has received the Brains and Behavior Fellowship, awarded for research contributing to the field of neuroscience. Through the Brains and Behavior program at the Neuroscience Institute at Georgia State, graduate students are granted the opportunity to collaborate with others across departments. They are also encouraged to hold student leadership positions and attend developmental lectures.

Nia Coates received the Excellence in Mathematics Teaching Award from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. Established by Hiram and Barbara Johnston, both of whom had long careers in the College of Education & Human Development, this award is given to an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in mathematics education who demonstrates academic excellence.

Jared Grigsby received the Master of Education in Mathematics Education Award from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. This award, established by Gloria Kittel, supports a student preparing to teach middle school mathematics and who is currently pursuing a master of education in mathematics education degree in the College of Education & Human Development.

Georgia State University student Nebechi Okpala has been awarded the Cooley Scholarship in the Sciences. The award goes to a full-time undergraduate student with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and demonstrated financial need. The recipient must be majoring in science, math, or one of the other STEM fields.

Georgia State University student Josemaria Garcia has been awarded the Cooley Scholarship in the Sciences. This award is presented to high-achieving students who demonstrate financial need and have declared their major in the natural sciences. The student must be majoring in biology, physics, and astronomy, chemistry, or geosciences and demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

Ania Howard received the Jerry Robbins Endowed Scholarship in Mathematics from Georgia State University's College of Education & Human Development as part of its annual Scholars Celebration. Jerry Robbins has devoted his professional life to the preparation of teachers. During his career at Georgia State, he was a member of the faculty and served as dean. This award honors a student majoring and excelling in mathematics with a focus in teacher preparation.

Georgia State University student Mikayla Oberlton has been awarded the African-American Alumni Club Scholarship. This scholarship provides support for tuition, fees, books and/or other expenses to undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Recipients must be in good academic standing, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have demonstrated financial need and have performed significant community service.

Recipients must be in good academic standing, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have demonstrated financial need and have performed significant community service.

Georgia State University student Hannah Lomax has been awarded the Undergraduate Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for her work in the field of African-American Studies. Lomax, of Smyrna, is majoring in African American Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences.

The Lucille Adams Scholarship is awarded to rising seniors in the Department of African-American Studies at Georgia State who have unmet financial need and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 in African-American Studies coursework. Students are selected based on their service to their community, campus and to the Department of African-American Studies.
