Alpha Eta National Honor Society in Health Professions
The Alpha Eta National Honor Society promotes and recognizes significant scholarship, leadership, and contributions to the allied health professions. Baccalaureate degree candidates who have maintained an overall GPA of 3.5 or better are eligible for induction. The Alpha Eta motto is "Together We Serve" to represent all of the allied health professions. Georgia State University became a founding member of Alpha Eta in March 1975.

Georgia State Student Muskaan Patel Interns at Georgia's Capitol
Georgia State University student Muskaan Patel is working as an intern at the Georgia General Assembly through the university's Georgia Legislative Intern Program (GLIP). Patel is a junior pre-law/criminal justice interdisciplinary studies major in the College of Arts and Sciences. Patel, from McDonough, said her top goal while interning is to learn the lawmaking process in real-time. "I consider myself lucky to be able to participate in GLIP because it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that only a few get," said Patel. As an intern, Patel is working for the House Ways and Means Committee where she assists with writing letters, greeting visitors, attending committee meetings, retrieving committee bills, and handling constituent issues. Patel plans to go to law school and one day own a law firm. In addition to interning, Muskaan works at her family-owned gas station and convenience store. GLIP is run by Amy Steigerwalt, Professor of Political Science at Georgia State. Georgia State Student Tanya Paniagua Zamora Interns at Georgia Capitol
Georgia State University student Tanya Paniagua Zamora is working as an intern at the Georgia General Assembly through the university's Georgia Legislative Intern Program (GLIP). Zamora is a third-year law and society interdisciplinary studies major in the College of Arts and Sciences. She said she has always had an interest in the government process and has found her first few weeks in the program enlightening. "Not only do I get to witness how our state legislative process works, but I also get to be a part of it," Zamora said. As an intern, Zamora's duties include answering phone calls from constituents all over the state, handling special files, and assisting with administrative needs in the Speaker's Office. She also attends House floor sessions. After graduating from Georgia State, Zamora plans to attend law school. GLIP is run by Amy Steigerwalt, Professor of Political Science at Georgia State. Georgia State University Student Creates Group to Study German Philosophy
Georgia State University student Theodore Craig founded the group Forum for German Philosophy (FFGP) at the university last summer to provide academic resources and support for graduate students studying German Philosophy. The group hosts readings/discussion groups, paper workshops, and events to help students. Last summer, the group hosted a reading/discussion group on Kant's Groundwork, and in the Fall semester of 2021, they began a group on Hegel's Encyclopedia Phenomenology. Craig is a master's degree student in the Philosophy department in the College of Arts and Sciences. Georgia State University Student Presents Research Poster at Conference
Georgia State University student Spencer Kinsey had his poster "Determination, Potentiation, and Translation: A Critique of Burnston's Solution to the Interface Problem," accepted to the American Philosophical Association Central Division Annual Meeting this February. Kinsey also had his paper "Vehicle Realism and the Hopfieldian Revolution in Neuroscience," accepted for presentation at the Philosophy of Neuroscience Graduate Student Showcase, APA Pacific. Kinsey, a native of Gainesville, is a master's degree student in the Philosophy department in the College of Arts and Sciences. Georgia State University Student Earns Fellowship for Philosophy
Georgia State University student Anastasiia Grigoreva was awarded the Ralf F. Munster Fellowship for Outstanding First-Year Graduate Student. The Munster Fellowship is awarded based on academic excellence, including coursework and participation in other academic activities. Grigoreva has presented her work at multiple conferences, including Catcalling as dispositional misogyny: Locating catcalling within the discourse on patriarchy-enforcing speech, presented online at the Social Ontology 2021 Conference of the International Social Ontology Society (ISOS). Grigoreva is pursuing a master's in Philosophy with the Philosophy Department in the College of Arts and Sciences. Georgia State University student Nana Yaa Awere received the Arlene and Alvin Altman Scholarship for academic excellence. Awere, of Lawrenceville, is a junior majoring in Philosophy and Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Arlene and Alvin Altman Scholarship is awarded to philosophy majors based on academic excellence. Preference is given to students from segments of American society whose members historically have been denied the equal educational opportunity due to prejudice and discrimination. Georgia State University student Aisha Okmi was awarded the Best Poster Award at the Symposium "EQ20: Beyond Graphene 2D Materials - Synthesis, Properties and Device Applications." Okmi of Atlanta is a Ph.D. student in the Physics & Astronomy Department in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Symposium was held during the 2021 Fall Meeting of the Materials Research Society (MRS). She won the award for her poster entitled "How Surface Tension Matters in Polymer-Free Graphene Transfer."
