This scholarship provides opportunities to deserving students by offering substantial award amounts of up to $5,000 for Maymester or Summer programs, $7,500 for Fall or Spring semesters abroad, and $15,000 for an Academic Year, depending on financial need and program costs.

KPMG recognizes two outstanding undergraduate students and two outstanding graduate students with a cash award.

Given to students for outstanding accomplishments in the College of Education & Human Development.

Established by Felicia and Rodney Mayfield, this $1,000 scholarship is given to a deserving undergraduate student.

The Rozelle Outstanding Programmer Award is named for James P. Rozelle, a former faculty member of the CIS Department at Georgia State University. It honors undergraduate students in the CIS program with the most outstanding academic record in the programming courses. Winners receive a cash award, and their names are engraved on a plaque that hangs in the lobby of the CIS Department.

The Cotterman Outstanding Student award is named for William C. Cotterman, the first chairman of the CIS Department at Georgia State University. It honors graduate students in the MS-CIS program with the most outstanding academic record. Winners receive a cash award, and their names are engraved on a plaque that hangs in the lobby of the CIS Department.

The Bergeron scholarship is awarded to undergraduate female students in the CIS or Computer Science program who have expressed or demonstrated high potential for leadership careers in technology. The scholarship-mentorship program provides for a tuition award and a one-on-one mentor relationship with a leader from the technology industry. Four Georgia State University Honors College students secured the prestigious and competitive Gilman scholarship on their road to studying abroad.

Given to a graduate student in recognition of leadership, scholarship and activities in urban education settings and demonstrated promise to continue improving the educational context and/or student development and learning in these settings. The recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Presented to students enrolled in a graduate program who demonstrate a pattern of scholarship and commitment of service to the university, community and profession. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Congratulations to the recipients of the Georgia State University International Education Fee (IEF) Study Abroad Scholarship who participated in an international education experience in Maymester 2016! The Georgia State University International Education Fee (IEF) Study Abroad Scholarship, initiated in 2004, is funded by the international education student fee.

Awarded to outstanding students in the Urban Adolescent Teaching and Learning discipline. Recipients are chosen by faculty based on academic achievement, teaching, expertise, community service and a commitment to excellence.

School of Public Health Ph.D. student Moges Seyoum Ido successfully defended his dissertation this summer on quality improvement in stroke care.

Talitha Hanks, a sophomore studying sociology at Georgia State University, is one of around 400 American undergraduate students from across the U.S. selected to receive the prestigious Freeman Award for Study in Asia Scholarship (Freeman-ASIA).

Presented to mathematics education students based on academic achievement, teaching expertise, community service and a commitment to excellence.

Given to outstanding students in the Language and Literacy discipline of middle and secondary education. Recipients are chosen by faculty based on academic achievement, teaching, expertise, community service and a commitment to excellence.

Given to a graduate student preparing for a career as a mathematics teacher in the Master of Education in Mathematics Education degree program. The recipient will receive a $750 scholarship.

Established by Dr. Jerry Robbins, former dean of the college, to honor students majoring and excelling in mathematics with a focus in teacher preparation. The recipient will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Given to an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in mathematics education who is demonstrating academic excellence. The recipient will receive a $1,000 cash award.

Established by College of Education alumni Dr. Melvin Hayden and Dr. Lucy Welzant Hayden to honor their parents. This $1,000 award is presented to a doctoral student or graduate whose dissertation exhibits originality, clarity and effectiveness in the presentation of ideas, quality writing and contributes to the future scholarly productivity of his or her field.

Given to an undergraduate student of academic distinction who shows potential through research, community involvement and leadership by making significant contributions within the fields of human learning and development.

Given to a student who has outstanding academic results, collegiality and commitment to the mission and guiding principles of the healthcare science teacher education teacher certification program. The recipient of this award also exemplifies the highest standards in their middle or secondary classrooms, and conduct innovative activities that promote student success in healthcare fields.

Presented to a doctoral student in the learning technologies discipline based on academic achievement, teaching expertise, community service and a commitment to excellence.

Public Health Ph.D. student Royal Kai Yee Law successfully defended this summer his dissertation on using pre-diagnostic data to monitor public health threats.

Public Health Ph.D. student Andrea Torres Bermudez successfully defended her dissertation on community-based interventions to promote physical activity and combat non-communicable diseases.

Established by Dr. Ron Colarusso, former dean of the college, to recognize a doctoral student with an extraordinary dissertation prospectus in the area of urban education. The recipient will receive a $1,000 award.

School of Public Health graduate student Amna Tariq has received an international fellowship from the American Association of University Women for the 2016-2017 year.
