Twelve students received the Kenneth and Mary Matheny Professorship in Counseling and Psychology Scholarship at the college's 2024 Scholars Reception.

Doctoral students Roti Chakraborty and Alex Johnson were selected for the American Institutes for Research's Equity Initiative Fellowship.

Kinesiology doctoral student Tasnuva Alam co-authored an article entitled, "Dynamic Gait Stability in Children with and without Down Syndrome During Overground Walking," which was published in Clinical Biomechanics.

Educational psychology doctoral student Mi'Kayla Newell has been selected to participate in the 14th Annual Asa G. Hilliard III and Barbara A. Sizemore Research Course on African Americans and Education.

Counselor education and practice doctoral student Mia Kim Chang has been selected as a 2024-2025 Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) Leadership Fellow.

Communication sciences and disorders doctoral student Hannah Griffey co-authored an article entitled, "Dialect Identification, Intelligibility Ratings and Acceptability Ratings of Dysarthric Speech in Two American English Dialects," which was published in Clinical Linguistics and Phonetics.

Early childhood and elementary education doctoral students Maria Cerrato and Elizabeth Sanders co-authored an article entitled, "How Dual Language Bilingual Education Preservice Teachers Draw Upon and Develop Students' Sociocultural Competence," which was published in Foreign Language Annals.

The Wellness in the Law Society's mission is to provide students with a comprehensive approach to wellness, encompassing mental, physical, social, emotional, intellectual, professional, and inner purpose/values. Through a variety of initiatives, they aim to offer educational opportunities throughout the academic year, focusing on promoting wellness, health, and balance.

The American Constitution Society at Georgia State University is comprised of law students committed to championing the enduring significance of the U.S. Constitution and its core principles: safeguarding individual rights and liberties, fostering genuine equality, ensuring access to justice, upholding democracy, and promoting the rule of law. This organization believes in the transformative potential of the law to positively impact the lives of every individual.

More than 3,000 students earned degrees at the associate's, bachelor's, master's, specialist and doctoral levels, in addition to undergraduate- and graduate-level academic certificates during the Fall 2023 semester.

The Black Law Student Association strives to promote the educational and professional needs and goals of Black law students. We seek to influence the legal community to bring about meaningful change that addresses the needs and concerns of the Black community. BLSA (pronounced bahl - sa) attempts to effectuate these goals by mentoring our members and by bringing our membership into contact with practicing attorneys in nearly every legal practice area. Also, BLSA sponsors innovative and informative forums, which address current issues in legal practice and general issues that affect the community at large.

The Environmental Law Society (ELS) is a student group at our law school focused on environmental, real estate, and energy law. ELS hosts events, attends conferences, engages in community service, and offers opportunities for outdoor activities and moot court competitions.

Georgia State University College of Law extends its congratulations to the newest mock trial team of the Student Trial Lawyers Association for the 2023-2024 academic year. This signifies STLA's commitment to providing students with real courtroom experience, facilitated by professional attorneys and participation in national competitions, bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical legal skills. Notably, many graduates who have been part of STLA go on to successful careers as litigators and district attorneys. In 2020, Georgia State University achieved a remarkable 21st ranking in the U.S. News & World Report for its outstanding Trial Advocacy Programs. This recognition is well-deserved, as the Student Trial Lawyers Association has a proven track record of excellence, boasting an impressive record of 16 national championships, 15 regional championships, and seven second-place finishes in national competitions.

Educational leadership doctoral student Latasha Lampkin authored an article entitled, "Using Action Research to Examine the Effect of Collaborative Practices on Student Test Scores," which was published in Educational Research Quarterly.

Kinesiology doctoral student Rebecca Ban is one of 12 Georgia State University students who received one of the university's internal grant awards for dissertations.

Neuroscience student Vishrut Thaker presented at the International American Heart Association to show the effects of mental stress on the heart and how he is creating more space for mental health advocacy, education and wellness across Georgia State University with his organization, MannMukti.

Niki Nourollahi (J.D. '23) has been named the Georgia State University "Study Abroad Student of the Year." Nourollahi is a recent graduate of Georgia State University's College of Law Class of 2023. During her second year of law school, Niki spent her spring semester studying international law at Aarhus University. Niki also previously studied abroad during her undergraduate education at Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business with Toulouse Business School in Toulouse, France for six months. Upon returning to Georgia State Law from Denmark, Niki has maintained relationships with her friends abroad and assisted new international exchange students in Atlanta as they arrived. She is passionate about her study-abroad experience and loves to share with others how the experience has enriched her life. Niki has recently accepted an associate position with Burr & Forman LLP in Atlanta as part of their corporate and tax practice group, with a concentration in securities transactional work. Teaching and learning doctoral student Justice Ejike has been selected for one of 15 highly competitive annual fellowships with the Community for Advancing Discovery Research in Education, a resource network for STEM education researchers supported by the National Science Foundation.

Georgia State University communication sciences and disorders student Calia Howse was selected to participate in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's (ASHA) Minority Student Leadership Program at the 2023 ASHA Convention.

To be eligible for the Dean's List during the summer semester, degree-seeking students with a minimum Georgia State cumulative GPA of 2.00 must earn a 3.50 GPA for the semester and complete at least 6 semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

The Eleanor McEdwards International Opportunity Scholarship is a study abroad scholarship awarded annually to an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. The scholarship was established by Dr. Colleen McEdwards and Scott Burnside in honor of her mother, Eleanor McEdwards, who was dedicated to creating and promoting opportunities for international travel and study among young people. Because of Eleanor's dedication, Dr. McEdwards was able to participate in study abroad programs throughout the former Soviet Union, and then went on to become an anchor and correspondent for CNN International.
