Georgia State University College of Law is proud to recognize the outstanding student leaders who have been elected to serve as 2025-2026 officers for our Ronald J. Freeman Chapter of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA). These students exemplify dedication, innovation and a commitment to advancing our law school community through advocacy, service and education.

More than 2,000 students graduated from Georgia State University during the summer 2025 semester, earning associate's, bachelor's, graduate and professional degrees as well as undergraduate and graduate certificates.

To be eligible for the President's List during the summer semester, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 4.0 for a minimum of six semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.

To be eligible for the Dean's List during the summer semester, degree-seeking students with a minimum Georgia State cumulative GPA of 2.00 must earn a 3.50 GPA for the semester and complete at least 6 semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

Proma Kansagra, a Biomedical Science and Enterprise bachelor's program student in Georgia State University's Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBMS), has been awarded the Shanthi Sitaraman Student Award. She participated in a summer research internship focused on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and after completing the internship, Kansagra received a $2,500 award and presented her research during the IBMS Digestive Disease Research Day in late August 2025. The Shanthi Sitaraman Student Award was established to provide a summer internship in the IBD field to a selected IBMS undergraduate student and was made possible by generous donations to the Shanthi V. Sitaraman Intestinal Pathobiology Endowment. The summer internship consists of lectures and laboratory experiments in IBMS labs designed to give the student both a conceptual and practical understanding of IBD. Kansagra is the first recipient of the Shanthi Sitaraman Student Award.

Students who earn the Global Scholar Distinction are recognized by Georgia State University for their development of global competence: the skills, knowledge and awareness that enhance the ability to succeed in a global environment. The Global Scholar Distinction is open to all Bachelor degree-seeking majors in all colleges, in addition to Associate degree-seeking students at Perimeter College.

More than 4,000 students graduated from Georgia State University at the conclusion of the Spring 2025 semester. Graduating students were honored during the university's 110th commencement exercises in May.

Jessica Chatman and Geraki Kossonou are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's Dr. Vicki Denmark Endowed Scholarship for Future Educational Leaders.

Christy Jarrard is the 2024-2025 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's JoAnne R. Nurss Endowed Scholarship in Life-Long Literacy.

Tiffany Allen, Amelia Bell, Cheryl Bogtong, Amber Cary, Cheryl Cate and Latasha Jones are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's Glenn A. Vergason Scholarship for Special Education.

Tilifayea Griffin is the 2024-2025 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's Dr. Cynthia Kuhlman and Dr. Wayne Sengstock Scholarship.

Mailen Soto is the 2024-2025 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's Ann Dixon Demonet Early Childhood Special Education Endowed Award.

Wellington De Luna is the 2024-2025 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's Roslyn Hirsch Balbirer Memorial Scholarship.

Dalton Coppola, Wade Johnstone and Nikkel Powell are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's Mary Helen Huggins Memorial Scholarship.

Miguel Hall, Jada Reed, Alba Retortillo Soiras, Thomas Williams and Michael Wright are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's Margaret A. Jones Scholarship. This scholarship is presented to elementary or middle school physical education students in honor of Margaret (Peg) Jones to recognize her extraordinary achievements in preservice and continuing education of physical education teachers.

Aoi Bentley, Anthony Pham and Harley Woods are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's Jeff and Debbie Rupp Endowed Scholarship in Exercise Science. This award is presented to a student in the Department of Kinesiology and Health's exercise science program, selected based on academic promise, leadership and talent.

Boshi Wang is the 2024-2025 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's Research, Measurement and Statistics Scholarship.

Jayan Anderson is the 2024-2025 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's Vivian Ophelia Spence Perrimon Scholarship.

Samantha Adane, Philondra Gorman and Jueun Lim are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's Lorene C. Pilcher Endowed Scholarship.

Mychal Anderson, Annie Bond-Richardson, Jessica Brower, Kate Campbell, Jimmy Enobabor, Maria Gordon-Rumley, Sean Groark, Meghan Jaczko, Ashley McGee, Jessica Poling and Qwatee Williams are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's Kenneth and Mary Matheny Professorship in Counseling and Psychology Scholarship.

Alexis Alvarez and Mina Uddin are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's David Jemel Holloman Memorial Scholarship. This memorial scholarship is awarded to exceptional undergraduate students in the CEHD majoring in early childhood and elementary education.

Modester Abatulu, Elizabeth Ashby, Bianca Garcia, McKenzie Johnson, Emily Kim, Brianna Lockhart, Maya Owens, Natalie Song, Michelle Tindall and Nicole Warnock are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's Karen and George McCarty Scholarship. This scholarship was established by Karen McCarty, a two-time graduate of Georgia State University, and is given to graduate students in the clinical mental health counseling master's program and school counseling master's program to build their networks, knowledge and skills by attending local, state and national professional conferences related to their area of counseling expertise.

Mia Kim Chang is the 2024-2025 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's JoAnna White Play Therapy Scholarship.

Hannah Griffey is the 2024-2025 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's Communication Sciences and Disorders Scholarship.

This scholarship recognizes a student currently enrolled in a teaching certification program within the college who is committed to serving in an urban school setting.

Shenika Brown, Ruby Garmon and Romonda Middlebrooks-Jefferson are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development Scholarship.

Ekele Chigbu, Shanice Gay and Abigal Stamper are the 2024-2025 recipients of the College of Education & Human Development's Communication Sciences and Disorders Graduate Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes master's students in the communication sciences and disorders program for academic excellence and exceptional promise as future leaders in the field.

Jordan Duff-Gordon is the 2024-2025 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's Kay Chester Scholarship for Teachers in Training.

This award, established by Dr. Felicia Mayfield and her husband, Mr. Rodney Mayfield, recognizes a deserving undergraduate student in the College of Education & Human Development.

This scholarship recognizes individuals enrolled in the College of Education & Human Development who are in good academic standing and exhibit outstanding leadership, dedication to their field and a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence.
