This scholarship was established by Karen McCarty, a two-time graduate of Georgia State University, and is given to graduate students in the clinical mental health counseling master's program and school counseling master's program to build their networks, knowledge and skills by attending local, state and national professional conferences related to their area of counseling expertise.

This scholarship recognizes a graduate student in the communication sciences and disorders program who demonstrates academic excellence, a strong commitment to scholarly inquiry and the potential to contribute meaningfully to research and advancement in the field.

The College of Education & Human Development's Alonzo and Gwendolyn Crim Endowed Scholarship supports a student in the College of Education & Human Development who is actively engaged in the Alonzo A. Crim for Urban Educational Excellence and is committed to advancing educational excellence in urban schools.

The College of Education & Human Development Scholarship recognizes individuals with outstanding accomplishments in the College of Education & Human Development. Undergraduate and graduate students who receive this scholarship are presently enrolled in the college, have completed at least 30 hours of coursework, are in good standing and show a pattern of department/program involvement or scholarship.

Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland, Australia in 2008. The premise of the competition is to develop academic, presentation and research communication skills. It supports the development of students' capacities to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience. Graduate students have three minutes to present compelling orations on their thesis or dissertation topics and their significance. 3MT is not an exercise in "watering down" research but forces students to consolidate their ideas and concisely explain their research discoveries.

More than 3,000 students earned certificates and degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels during the Fall 2025 semester. Students were recognized for their achievements during the university's 111th commencement exercises in December 2025.

Students who earn the Global Scholar Distinction are recognized by Georgia State University for their development of global competence: the skills, knowledge and awareness that enhance the ability to succeed in a global environment. The Global Scholar Distinction is open to all bachelor's degree-seeking majors in all colleges, as well as associate's degree-seeking students at Perimeter College.

The Graduate Conference for Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity offers a platform for graduate students from all disciplines to showcase their scholarly and creative endeavors. The conference provides an opportunity for graduate students to share their work through posters, oral presentations, films, artist talks, creative displays or musical performances.

To be eligible for the Dean's List, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.

Ila-Rose Robinson recently won Georgia State University's 2026 Martin Luther King, Jr. Student Oratory Competition. Robinson delivered her speech, "Between Auburn Avenue and Selma," during the university's week-long MLK Commemoration, celebrating and honoring the life, legacy and vision of Dr. King.
