Rachel Ninson, a senior Biomedical Science and Enterprise bachelor's program student in Georgia State University's Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBMS), was selected to receive the Shanthi Sitaraman Student Award. She participated in a 10-week summer research internship focused on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). After completing the internship, Ninson received a $2,500 award and a crystal trophy, and her findings were presented during the IBMS Digestive Disease Research Day Sept. 4. The Shanthi Sitaraman Student Award, made possible by generous donations to the Shanthi V. Sitaraman Intestinal Pathobiology Endowment, was established to provide a summer internship in the IBD field to a selected IBMS undergraduate student. The summer internship, which includes lectures and laboratory experiments, gives the student conceptual and practical understandings of IBD.

Institute for Biomedical Sciences Research Day 2026, a student-led research symposium for undergraduate and graduate students in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) at Georgia State University, featured outstanding student research projects, award presentations and career discussions by industry and academic professionals.

A new student research program, the Undergraduate Program for Research Immersion & Scholarly Mentorship (UPRISM), will enable undergraduate students in the Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) at Georgia State University to gain meaningful research experiences in the institute's labs. This new initiative is designed to expand research opportunities for undergraduate students and equip them with the skills, networks and confidence to thrive as emerging biomedical scientists. The program has selected eight UPRISM Scholars to start their research experiences in five IBMS labs this fall.

The Health Law Partnership (HeLP) Clinic Award recognizes Georgia State University College of Law students for outstanding advocacy for low-income clients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Georgia State University is proud to recognize the newly elected board members of the 2026-2027 Student Bar Association as they begin their leadership and service to the Georgia State College of Law community. These students were chosen by their peers to represent the student body and help shape the student organization through collaboration, advocacy and inclusion. The SBA Board serves as a bridge between students, faculty, and administration, representing student concerns and suggestions while working to enhance the educational experience and overall student life at Georgia State University College of Law.

To be eligible for the President's List during the summer semester, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 4.0 for a minimum of six semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.

To be eligible for the Dean's List during the summer semester, degree-seeking students with a minimum Georgia State cumulative GPA of 2.00 must earn a 3.50 GPA for the semester and complete at least 6 semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

More than 2,000 students earned certificates and degrees from Georgia State University during the summer 2026 semester.

This scholarship is presented to elementary or middle school physical education students in honor of Margaret (Peg) Jones to recognize her extraordinary achievements in preservice and continuing education of physical education teachers.

Ramziah Mansaray is the 2026 recipient of the College of Education & Human Development's Felicia and Rodney Mayfield Scholarship.

The Nell Hamilton Trotter Award is Georgia State University's highest award for student leadership.

The primary purpose of the SGA is to represent the students' interests to the university and as the official voice of students in academic, institutional and community affairs. It also appoints student representatives to the wider University Senate, giving students a voice on the central university-wide body that is key to decision making at GSU.

Ila-Rose Robinson recently won Georgia State University's 2026 Martin Luther King, Jr. Student Oratory Competition. Robinson delivered her speech, "Between Auburn Avenue and Selma," during the university's week-long MLK Commemoration, celebrating and honoring the life, legacy and vision of Dr. King.

Melanie Sallis (J.D. '25), a student at Georgia State University College of Law, is the winner of the Recording Academy's annual Entertainment Law Initiative (ELI) Writing Contest for her essay, "Beyond Takedowns: Expanding Music Monetization Tools to Support All Artists."

Five Georgia State University College of Law students were selected as 2024-2025 Weltner Family Law Inn of Court pupils. The Weltner Family Inn is a chapter of the American Inns of Court; an organization that seeks to increase civility and professionalism among bench and bar members through social interaction and legal education. The chosen students will have opportunities to network and receive mentorship from lawyers and judges.

Georgia State University College of Law inducted 30 new student honorees and two honorary alumni into the Order of the Coif and the Order of Barristers on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2024. These esteemed societies celebrate excellent scholarship and advocate for law students nationwide.
