The Thomas and Wendy Reiman Endowed Scholarship provides support to undergraduates who have reached the junior or senior level in the College of Arts & Sciences and are majoring in the humanities.

Georgia State University student Deja Milton was awarded The Eleanor McEdwards International Opportunity Award. Milton, of Decatur, is a Psychology major in the College of Arts & Sciences. The Eleanor McEdwards International Opportunity Scholarship is a study abroad scholarship awarded annually to an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. The scholarship was established by Dr. Colleen McEdwards and Scott Burnside in honor of her mother, Eleanor McEdwards, who was dedicated to creating and promoting opportunities for international travel and study among young people. Because of Eleanor's dedication, Dr. McEdwards was able to participate in study abroad programs throughout the former Soviet Union, and then went on to become an anchor and correspondent for CNN International.

Georgia State University student Meklit Gebru has been selected for the Donald M. Payne Fellowship. The Payne Fellowship provides up to $22,000 annually towards tuition and mandatory fees for completion of a two-year master's program in international affairs or a related subject at an approved graduate school. In addition, there is a stipend, up to $16,000 per year, for each of the two years of graduate study, to help pay living expenses, books, and travel while in school under the Payne Fellowship.

Keridan Ogletree, a senior political science major at Georgia State University, served as an intern at the state capitol during the 2019 session of the Georgia General Assembly.

Eric Edmonson, a junior political science major at Georgia State University, served as an intern at the state capitol during the 2019 session of the Georgia General Assembly. Edmonson, of Buford, GA, felt that the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP) "was a unique opportunity that very few get to participate in." Eric hoped that GLIP "would make him stand out from his peers" and give him a greater chance at achieving greatness in future career plans. After graduation, Eric plans to attend law school and eventually become an attorney and business owner. He is inspired by the quote "success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it," by Henry David Thoreau. His favorite book is "Memoirs of the Second World War," by Winston Churchill

Stephanie Gomez, a Georgia State political science major, served as an intern at the state capitol during the 2019 session of the Georgia General Assembly.

Maariz Kashem, a political science student at Georgia State University, served as an intern at the state capitol. Kashem, of Lawrenceville, GA, decided to apply to the Georgia Legislative Internship Program to gain knowledge of the inner workings of government and determine whether politics would be the right career path for him. On campus, Maariz is the Vice President of Secular Panthers and is a member of Model UN. In the immediate future, Kashem plans to graduate from Georgia State and get real-world work experience before deciding where to go career and graduate school wise. Maariz's favorite book is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon.

Meeyabonyui Aneneba, a junior political science major at Georgia State University, interned at the state capitol during the 2019 legislative session. Anenba, of Lawrenceville, GA, found that The Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP) was an amazing experience and was grateful to be a part of GLIP. In addition, she now has a greater appreciation for government and the people who work towards making our state great. After graduating from Georgia State, Meeyabonyui plans to pursue a master's degree in political science, and thereafter, hopes to serve the public and help create better communities. Meeyabonyui's favorite quote is "don't try to lessen yourself for the world; let the world catch up to you," by Beyonce. She is inspired by the book Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Miriam Goodfriend, a senior philosophy major at Georgia State University, served as an intern at the state capitol during the 2019 session of the Georgia General Assembly. Goodfriend, of Dunwoody, GA saw the Georgia Legislative Internships Program (GLIP) as "a real-time, fast-paced, and intense work environment." Moreover, she expected this experience to impact her understanding of state government and the legislative process. After graduating from Georgia State, Ms. Goodfriend plans to pursue either a law degree or a masters degree in public policy. Her favorite book is "Dark Matter," by Blake Crouch. Miriam's most memorable quote is "everyone you will meet knows something you don't," by Bill Nye.

Georgia State University College of Arts & Sciences student Ramesh Manyam - who is a computer science Ph.D. candidate - won second place in the Three Minute Thesis Competition in the doctoral candidate category. His research was titled "Deep Learning Model for Predicting Readmissions Following Cardiac Surgery." He was among many of the Georgia State College of Arts and Sciences students who were awarded top prizes at the university's Spring 2019 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition on March 25, where they were challenged to explain their research and scholarship to a general audience in a short amount of time. The premise of the competition is to develop academic, presentation, and research communication skills. It supports the development of students' capacities to effectively explain their research in language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.

The premise of the competition is to develop academic, presentation, and research communication skills. Hannah Audifferen, a political science major at Georgia State University, interned at the State Capitol during the 2019 legislative session. Audifferen, of Kennesaw, GA decided that the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP) would be an amazing opportunity to gain real life experience of the legislative process and solidify her dreams of a career in politics. When she was not serving as an intern, Ms. Audifferen spent her time in class and working full-time at RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. After graduating from Georgia State, she plans to attend law school. Hannah is inspired by the quote "all adventurous women do...," from the TV show Girls. Her favorite book is Icarus Girl by Helen Oyeyemi

Georgia State University College of Arts and Sciences student Mary Fernandes, a Ph.D. candidate in the university's clinical neuropsychology program, won first place and the people's choice award at the spring 2019 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition in the doctoral student category.

Jalissa Spalding was named the Study Abroad Student of the Year at Georgia State University's 2018 International Education Awards. Spalding is a graduate student in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. Spalding spent a semester abroad in the West Indies and is completing a Master of Science degree in criminology.

Matthew Delhey successfully defended his thesis to earn a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy in the fall of 2018. His thesis was titled "Machine Automation and the Critique of Abstract Labor in Hegel's Mature Social Theory." Delhey's thesis committee members were Dr. Sebastian Rand, Dr. Peter Lindsay, and Dr. Calvin Thomas. Delhey is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Toronto.

Seven members of the Georgia State University Mock Trial Team were invited to compete at the Yale Mock Trial Invitational during December 2018.

Clifvette Webb was selected as the 2018 recipient of the Georgia State Philosophy Department Arlene & Alvin Altman Endowment in Philosophy.

Iman Fakhoury, a sophomore studying biology in the College of Arts & Sciences, is one of over 800 U.S. undergraduate students from hundreds of colleges and universities selected to receive the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Fakhoury has been awarded $4,500 to participate in International Studies Abroad (ISA)'s Business, Hospitality, Social Science and STEM program in Bangkok, Thailand during Spring 2019.

Faizon Williams, a junior studying computer science in the College of Arts & Sciences, is one of over 800 U.S. undergraduate students from hundreds of colleges and universities selected to receive the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Williams has been awarded $2,500 to study on a Georgia State exchange program at Hong Kong Baptist University in Hong Kong during Spring 2019.

Tiger A.H. Selmi, a sophomore studying computer information systems in the Robinson College of Business, is one of over 800 U.S. undergraduate students from hundreds of colleges and universities selected to receive the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Selmi was awarded $3,500 to study on a Georgia State exchange program at Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands for Spring 2019. Selmi, a Perimeter College alum, is also the recipient of the Study Abroad Programs' IEF study abroad scholarship. Additionally, he was awarded the Institute of International Business (IIB)'s Coca-Cola Global Ambassador Scholarship and Common study abroad scholarship for Spring 2019.

A student in the Honors College at Georgia State University Perimeter College is a recipient of the Kimbo Scholarship, which awards $2,000 for exceptional academic achievement and leadership potential in the Korean community.

A Georgia State University history student in the Honors College at Perimeter College received the 2018 Georgia Society of Mayflower Descendants Scholarship.

College of Education & Human Development students Jennifer Grobeck, Elsie Jackson, Carrie Tahlor and Michael Vo were selected for the French Dual Language Fund's 2018 Future Immersion Teacher (FIT) Fellowship, which will prepare them to teach in dual language immersion settings.

A Georgia State University Honors College student presented her undergraduate research at the Society for Neuroscience's annual national conference in San Diego in November 2018.

George Greenidge, Jr., a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at Georgia State University, delivered a presentation at the Annual Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities (CUMU) Conference about Georgia State University's College of Arts and Sciences Domestic Field Schools that included research topics on homeless youth, health outcomes for Atlanta Beltine residents, and migrant workers and housing stability in Atlanta.

Micayla Shirley, a student at Georgia State University's Perimeter College, participated in a 10-week, marine biology Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program at the University of Connecticut in Groton and nearby Mystic Aquarium. The program was sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

Nine incoming freshmen were selected to for the Honors College Presidential Scholarship, the highest academic scholarship at Georgia State University.

Three students from the Panthers in the Valley cohort were selected by Microsoft to intern in their analytics division during the summer of 2019. Students will be receive an immersive experience at Microsoft, living in San Francisco for three months before returning to classes in the Fall 2019 semester.

Georgia State University undergraduate students participated in a wide range of UK-based internships through the Honors College London Experience summer study abroad program.
