Forty-four members of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2020 at Georgia State University received their white coats at the annual White Coat Ceremony and Service of Remembrance on October 26. Receiving the white coats marks the students' transition to clinical education and professional status as developing healthcare providers.

Qudsia Shafiq (J.D. '18) participated in testimony before the Securities and Exchange Commission's Investor Advisory Committee, advocating on behalf of the Georgia State University College of Law's Investor Advocacy Clinic and its clients.

Andy Navratil and McKinley Anderson received the State Bar of Georgia's Law School Excellence in Access to Justice Award. The award recognizes a student (or students) who has (or have) excelled in participation in support of a civil pro bono or legal aid program, or developed or has/have been instrumental in the development of a civil pro bono program satisfying previously unmet civil legal needs or extended services to underserved segments of the population.

The Honors College Ambassadors corps is composed of a diverse and dedicated group of outstanding Honors College students who desire to hone their leadership skills, while also contributing to the Honors College legacy. The Be the Change contest, sponsored by the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, invites students to submit proposals in the form of a New Year's resolution describing how they would use the $1,000 grant awarded to make the world a better place.

In memory of Dr. Virgil Jacobs, former anatomist in the physical therapy program, this award is given to the student who best exemplifies the qualities of intelligence, compassion, fairness, honesty, and sincerity in addition to outstanding scholarly anatomical competence.

This award is presented to the student who has most actively participated in professional activities within the community and who demonstrates high standards of professionalism.

Savas Mavridis, a student at Georgia State University's Perimeter College, has been named one of 348 community college students from across the nation selected for the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) program.

Dissertation Library Travel Awards are offered once per semester. They are available to doctoral students in any discipline who require funding to travel to a museum, archive or library to complete dissertation research. Candidates must complete a comprehensive application to be eligible.

The Beacon Society Award is an annual prize awarded to individuals who are dedicated to exposing young people to the study of Sherlock Holmes stories.

The Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference (GSURC) is an interdisciplinary undergraduate research conference which highlights and recognizes the research taking place across Georgia State's campus. The GSURC Student Planning Committee consists of 13 Honors College students who assist with event planning and execution.

The Spirit of Service award honors The 1913 Society member who worked the most events during the academic year.

The Rising Star award honors a 1913 Society member who has demonstrated exemplary leadership skills with only one year of service in The 1913 Society.

The Silver Shield award honors a 1913 Society member who exemplifies the organization's "service without self" motto while maintaining academic excellence, campus involvement and, above all, humility. It is The 1913 Society's highest honor.

Georgia State University Honors College junior Stephanie Ekey of Reisterstown, Maryland has been accepted to the University of Washington Medical School's Department of Neurological Summer Surgery Student Program providing exposure from "Bench to Bedside" exposure in the field of neurosciences.

The Georgia State University Law Review is a legal journal published four times a year by second- and third-year Georgia State University law students who have demonstrated outstanding writing and academic skills. The staff of the Law Review edits and publishes articles written by scholars, practitioners, and students.
