Meklit Gebru, a honors student majoring in international economics and modern languages, has been named a 2019 Payne Fellow by the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The Brains & Behavior Summer Scholars Program provides summer fellowships to selected Georgia State undergraduates to support their research efforts in faculty laboratories.

Kiana Colquitt, a Master of Science in Marketing student of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, successfully completed a graduate assistantship for the Office of the Provost as the first person to hold the position, where she provided valuable assistance with writing, editing, photography and background research during the 2018-19 academic year.

The Friedrich William Ralf Munster Fellowship in Philosophy is given to an outstanding graduate student in Philosophy in honor of Ralf F. Munster, chair of the department from 1955 to 1976.

The Jenny Thurston Fellowship in Heritage Preservation is an annual award and internship with the Atlanta Urban Design Commission for an outstanding historic preservationist in Atlanta.

The Ethel Illges Woodruff Fellowship in Southern History is awarded to a graduate student who intends to pursue the master's program with a concentration in southern history. Mrs. Ethel Illges Woodruff, a native of Columbus, Georgia, was keenly interested in the history of Georgia, eastern Alabama, and the Chattahoochee Valley. This fellowship in honor of Mrs. Woodruff was established in 1995 in the Department of History at Georgia State by the J.W. and Ethel I. Woodruff Foundation of Columbus.

The Jacqueline Boles Graduate Teaching Fellowship is presented to outstanding graduate student instructors in the Department of Sociology. This scholarship was created by the Department of Sociology to honor Jackie Boles, a cherished faculty member for more than 30 years.

The Ahmed T. Abdelal Fellowship is given to outstanding doctoral students for achievement in the field of molecular genetics or biotechnology. This award is named in honor of former Dean Ahmed T. Abdelal, who established the molecular genetics and biotechnology program at Georgia State University.

The Donald Ahearn Endowed Fellowship in Applied and Environmental Microbiology was established on the occasion of Dr. Ahearn's becoming a Research Professor Emeritus in recognition of his outstanding contributions in instruction, research, and service in the development of applied and environmental microbiology programs at Georgia State University.

The David W. Boykin Graduate Fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry was established in 1999 to honor the former chair of the Department of Chemistry. It is awarded to an outstanding Ph.D. graduate student in medicinal chemistry.

The Neurobiology and Behavior Graduate Fellowship is given in recognition of outstanding research and scholarship by a senior graduate student in the neurobiology and behavior program.

Micayla Shirley, a student at Georgia State University's Perimeter College, participated in a 10-week, marine biology Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program at the University of Connecticut in Groton and nearby Mystic Aquarium. The program was sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

Georgia State University student Meklit Gebru has been selected for the Donald M. Payne Fellowship. The Payne Fellowship provides up to $22,000 annually towards tuition and mandatory fees for completion of a two-year master's program in international affairs or a related subject at an approved graduate school. In addition, there is a stipend, up to $16,000 per year, for each of the two years of graduate study, to help pay living expenses, books, and travel while in school under the Payne Fellowship.

College of Education & Human Development students Jennifer Grobeck, Elsie Jackson, Carrie Tahlor and Michael Vo were selected for the French Dual Language Fund's 2018 Future Immersion Teacher (FIT) Fellowship, which will prepare them to teach in dual language immersion settings.

A Ph.D. student in the School of Public Health at Georgia State University has been awarded a 12-month fellowship with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Tobacco Products.

Three College of Education & Human Development students were selected for the 2018 National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Minority Fellowship Program.

Kaylee Corneilius, a dual enrollment student at Georgia State University's Perimeter College, attended the Columbia Engineering Experience in October 2018. The engineering experience at Columbia University, a selective, three-day program designed for high school seniors interested in an engineering education, particularly from backgrounds underrepresented in engineering and applied science.

A Ph.D. student in the School of Public Health at Georgia State University has been awarded the Provost's Dissertation Fellowship.

Student Innovation Fellows develop expertise and share ideas around emerging technologies and instructional innovations, with particular attention to enhancing learning and research at Georgia State through the innovative use of technology. Through the program, students collaborate with university faculty and staff.

Georgia State University College of Law's Center for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth welcomes thirty new Urban Fellows to its interdisciplinary program for 2017-18. This year's students come from across Georgia State University and Georgia Tech's School of City and Regional Planning.

Congratulations to Ph.D. candidate Steven Anderson who is a recipient of the Provost Dissertation Fellowship. The internal fellowship supports doctoral students from across the university as they complete their dissertations.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to build lasting connections between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Program is funded through an annual appropriation made by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Participating governments and host institutions, corporations, and foundations around the world also provide direct and indirect support to the Program, which operates in over 160 countries worldwide.

David L. Boren Scholarships and Fellowships are sponsored by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), a major federal initiative designed to build a broader and more qualified pool of U.S. citizens with foreign language and international skills. Boren Awards provide U.S. undergraduate and graduate students with resources and encouragement to acquire language skills and experience in countries critical to the future security and stability of our nation. In exchange for funding, Boren Award recipients agree to work in the federal government for a period of at least one year.

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) helps ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science and engineering in the United States and reinforces its diversity. The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions. The reputation of the GRFP follows recipients and often helps them become life-long leaders that contribute significantly to both scientific innovation and teaching. Past fellows include numerous Nobel Prize winners, U.S. Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu, Google founder, Sergey Brin, and Freakonomics co-author, Steven Levitt.

Established through the generosity of The Coca-Cola Foundation in honor of Ambassador Andrew Young, the Dean's Fellowship is awarded annually to an outstanding student or students pursuing a doctoral degree in the Andrew Young School. Each fellowship provides support for a period of three years of doctoral study.

The Andrew Young Fellowship is awarded annually to outstanding students who are pursuing a Ph.D. in economics, public policy or criminal justice and criminology.

Established in honor of the late Amanda Hyatt and her legacy of commitment to public service and education, this award recognizes a graduate student in policy studies who has demonstrated leadership and a proven commitment to compassionate public service.

The CARE Fellowship is a one-year graduate student internship program with CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. Fellows gain practical experience in various aspects of international development and global health to prepare them for careers working with various international aid organizations, financial institutions, governments and related organizations.
