Georgia State Graduate to Pursue International Affairs as 2021 Rangel Fellow

A 2019 Georgia State University journalism graduate has been named a 2021Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellow.

Faisal Adams, a master's student majoring in geosciences at Georgia State University, will start his Ph.D. program in Geochemistry at Virginia Tech this fall. Faisal accepted the prestigious "Interdisciplinary Graduate Education Program" fellowship from Virginia Tech Center for Sustainable Nanotechnology.

Lindsey Baker, a graduate student studying English at Georgia State University, won the Paul Bowles Graduate Student Fellowship in Fiction Writing. The award, presented in honor of the novelist, composer, and translator Paul Bowles, is presented by the English Department to acknowledge outstanding work by an M.F.A or Ph.D. student specializing in fiction writing.

Wanjiku Ngugi, a graduate student studying English at Georgia State University, won the Virginia Spencer Carr Graduate Fellowship in Prose Writing. The award is named in honor of the great literary biographer and professor Virginia Spencer Carr.

Cora Rowe, a graduate student studying English at Georgia State University, won the Virginia Spencer Carr Graduate Fellowship in Prose Writing during Spring semester 2020 at Georgia State University. The award is named in honor of the great literary biographer and professor Virginia Spencer Carr.

Noah Britton, an undergraduate student studying journalism at Georgia State University, was selected as an alternate for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The Fulbright Student Fellowship provides students with the opportunity to live and work abroad. To be competitive for the fellowship, candidates must have an excellent academic background, demonstrate leadership in their respective fields and be willing to serve as ambassadors during this cultural exchange.

The Boykin Fellowship was established in 1999 to honor former chair David W. Boykin of the Department of Chemistry. It is awarded to an outstanding Ph.D. graduate student in medicinal chemistry.

The Ambrose H. Pendergrast Fellowship provides scholarships to M.S. and/or Ph.D. level students who are pursuing or intend to pursue a degree in Chemistry with a specialization in analytical chemistry with the College of Arts & Sciences.

The Donald Ahearn Endowed Fellowship in Applied and Environmental Microbiology was established on the occasion of Dr. Ahearn's becoming a Research Professor Emeritus in recognition of his outstanding contributions in instruction, research, and service in the development of applied and environmental micro-biology programs at Georgia State University
