Georgia State University student Monisha Jackson recently received the Teaching Associate Award in the Sociology department. A Teaching Associate is an experienced graduate teaching assistant chosen by the Department's Teaching Committee who serves as a mentor for other teaching assistants in Sociology.

Georgia State University student Haley Strassburger recently received the Diane L. Fowlkes Research Award. The award honors the dedication to the field of Women's and Gender Studies demonstrated by a group of committed faculty who worked to get the Institute established at Georgia State. Its goals are to continue the legacy of committed scholarship by supporting engaged research in the field.

Georgia State University student Rorah Ndungu recently received the Dr. Walter Wilczynski Outstanding Neuroscience Undergraduate Award. This award honors the legacy of Walter Wilczynski, the founding director of the Neuroscience Institute at Georgia State in 2008.

Georgia State University student Erin Lottes recently received the Outstanding Doctoral Scholar Award in Neuroscience.

Georgia State University student Lake Li recently received the Cellular and Molecular Biology & Physiology Award. This award supports activities related to cellular and molecular biology and physiology studies, including travel to seminars and symposia.

Georgia State University student Zoe Bachiller recently received the Kevin M. Brady Endowed Scholarship. The Kevin M. Brady Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to undergraduate students who are currently enrolled in the Pre-Med/Pre-Health concentration program. To be considered for the award, students must be in good academic standing, be a top performing student and have a demonstrated financial need.

Georgia State University student Amany Elsharkawy recently received the Timothy Jon Bartness Memorial Award. The scholarship was established in memory of Timothy Jon Bartness (1953-2015), who joined the Biology department faculty in 1988. He was internationally celebrated for his research on obesity and metabolic physiology in addition to mentoring young scientists.

Georgia State University student Chetna Batra recently received the William G. Nolan Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship Award. This scholarship is awarded to outstanding undergraduate students who excel in academic achievement based on grade-point average, intellectual inquisitiveness, and research activities and who show leadership and good citizenship at Georgia State and in other communities. This fund was created in memory of former Associate Professor of Biology William G. Nolan.

Georgia State University student Chetna Batra recently received the Goodale Family Scholarship in International Study. The Goodale Family Scholarship in International Study recognizes international studies students who are traveling to study or conduct research in a country they have never visited.

Georgia State University student Eloisa Romero recently received the Barbara Baumstark BioBus Program Undergraduate Award. This scholarship supports undergraduate and graduate students with demonstrated interest in the BioBus which provides hands-on activities and demonstrations designed to get K-12 students interested in STEM education.

This award was established to alleviate financial barriers for students at Georgia State University applying to medical school programs by assisting with funding for admissions test preparation materials.

The Al Baumstark Award in Chemistry supports students pursuing doctoral degrees in chemistry and is inspired by organic chemistry Professor Al Baumstark's commitment to increasing student diversity in science.

The Wayne S. Kell Award for Academic Achievement is given to the senior who has achieved the highest scholastic average for all course work taken at Georgia State.

Sellen Scholarship In History was created to honor the memory of Robert W. Sellen, a history professor at Georgia State, and supports a freshman, sophomore or rising junior majoring in history.

The Nell Hamilton Trotter Student Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding commitment to student involvement and is the highest student leadership award presented by the university. For nearly 40 years, Nell Hamilton Trotter was a loyal member of the Georgia State University community. She was the first dean of women at Georgia State and served for many years as a dedicated faculty member. Dean Nell Hamilton Trotter personified the ideal qualities students, particularly student leaders, are expected to emulate.

This award recognizes an outstanding bachelor of science dental hygiene student who has demonstrated academic achievement and strong leadership skills.

The Faculty Recognition Award is presented to graduating respiratory therapy students who, in the opinion of the faculty, exhibit a positive professional attitude and a willingness to serve the needs of classmates, the community, and the profession of respiratory therapy.

This award is given to the individual in the Department of Physical Therapy who provides ongoing, dynamic leadership and guidance to his or her class.
