Knezevic, of Atlanta, is an Applied Linguistics master's degree student in the College of Arts & Sciences. Knezevic has worked as a graduate research assistant in Georgia State's McCarthy Lab which conducts research that investigates how people learn from what they read. Georgia State University student Samuel Pittman has received the George W. Beiswanger Endowed Award. Pittman, of Atlanta, is a senior majoring in Philosophy in the College of Arts & Sciences. The award goes to an undergraduate major on the basis of overall academic excellence, including: program grade-point average, overall grade-point average, undergraduate research projects, B.A. thesis work, and participation in academically-oriented departmental activities. The award was endowed by philosophy alumna Kay Craigie in honor of Beiswanger, who was Professor of Philosophy at Georgia State from 1963 to 1970. Georgia State University student Kinsey Williams has received the Kay C. Craigie Philosophy Student Support Fund. Williams, of Mableton, is majoring in Philosophy in the College of Arts & Sciences. The scholarship is awarded to academically successful philosophy majors who face financial barriers to realizing their dreams. The award was created with the generous support of philosophy alumna Kay Craigie. Georgia State University student Keith Rogers has received the Borden D. Dent Excellence in Cartography Award. Rogers, of Riverdale, is a senior majoring in Geosciences in the College of Arts & Sciences. The Borden D. Dent Excellence in Cartography award recognizes students' accomplishments in Cartography and is named in memory of Dr. Dent, a Georgia State professor emeritus and former chairman of the Department of Geography and Anthropology. The Nursing Student Service Award recognizes a student for outstanding service as the student representative to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
