GTA Teaching Excellence Award
During the course of a year, approximately one-third of the College's Ph.D. students teach one or more course sections as Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs). These awards are given to recognize those GTAs with outstanding teaching records and performance in the classroom during the preceding calendar year.

Georgia State University Graduate Student Receives Academic Award
Georgia State University student Alesha Bond has received the Theresa Nash Bernstein Scholarship in International Travel. Bond, of Deer Park, N.Y., is a Ph.D. student in psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences. Former Dean Lauren B. Adamson and her husband, Walter L. Adamson, established this scholarship for high achieving students who have not had the opportunity to travel abroad for study. The scholarship was established in honor of Lauren Adamson's mother, Teresa Nash Bernstein, a teacher, artist, and world traveler. This award is made annually to an outstanding graduate student in the Department of Psychology who has excelled in their professional development, teaching, and service. It is named for Richard Morrell, a talented clinical graduate student, who died tragically in an airplane crash in Africa in 2003. Georgia State University Graduate Student Receives Academic Recognition
This award is made annually to a graduate student who has shown outstanding development and ability in the use of statistics in psychology. It is named for Percival Rogers Bakeman (1882-1932), a graduate of Brown University, who was regarded as something of a polymath. He was a professor at Shanghai College, where he distinguished himself as the only American to lecture routinely in Chinese. John Warkentin Memorial Award
The John Warkentin Memorial Award is made annually to a graduate student showing outstanding potential in psychotherapy as well as financial need. John Warkentin was a psychiatrist in Atlanta who died in 1983. He and his wife, who was a clinical psychologist, were strong supporters of the psychotherapy program in the 1970s.

Georgia State University student Chakravarthy Garlapati has been awarded the Cellular & Molecular Biology & Physiology Award for excellent work in the field. Garlapati works in the Department of Biology at Georgia State and is involved in molecular biology, cell biology and cancer research. Garlapati is also working on a research project titled "Discovery of Molecular Signature Responsible for TNBC Racial Disparity in AA vs EA."

2021 Eli A. Zubay Actuarial Science Award
The late Dr. Eli A. Zubay co-founded Georgia State University's Actuarial Science Program in 1958. This award recognizes academic excellence and is presented annually to the undergraduate actuarial science major with the highest overall grade-point average. Recipients must have accumulated at least 60, but no more than 90 semester credit hours, and must have completed at least 12 semester credit hours of actuarial science coursework with no grade lower than a "B."
