Georgia State University student Wanjiku Ngugi has received the Virginia Spencer Carr Graduate Fellowship. This award, created in honor of Virginia Spencer Carr by her friends and former students, is given each year to an outstanding woman prose writer selected by the creative writing faculty.

Sweat, a Georgia State alumnus and storied Atlantic civic leader, this fellowship is designed to support doctoral students with the completion of dissertation research.
