Margaret Ewing Endowment in Family Oral Histories
The Margaret Ewing Endowment in Family Oral Histories provides a fellowship to a graduate student who is interested in pursuing research on family histories, preferably oral histories. This fund was created by William Pate (M.A., Communication, 1985) in memory of his cousin, Margaret Ewing, who had an interest in family history and studied the history of the Pate family.

George W. Beiswanger Endowed Award
The George W. Beiswanger Endowed Award is awarded to an undergraduate major on the basis of overall academic excellence, including program GPA, overall GPA, undergraduate research projects, B.A. thesis work, and participation in academically-oriented departmental activities. The award was endowed by philosophy alum Kay Craigie in honor of Dr. Beiswanger, who was Professor of Philosophy at Georgia State from 1963 to 1970.

The Orbun Troy Moore III Undergraduate Ethics Essay Contest Award is given annually to an undergraduate student who submits the best essay in a contest sponsored by Georgia State University's Jean Beer Blumenfeld Center for Ethics. The award was established with the generous support of Katherine B. Moore in loving memory of her son.

Timothy John Bartness Memorial Award
The Timothy Jon Bartness Memorial Award was established in memory of Dr. Timothy Jon Bartness (1953-2015) who joined the Biology faculty in 1988. Dr. Bartness was a Regents' Professor and founding director of the Center for Obesity Reversal. He was internationally celebrated for his research on obesity and metabolic physiology in addition to mentoring young scientists.

Georgia State Masters Student Matthew Delhey Successfully Defends Thesis
Matthew Delhey successfully defended his thesis to earn a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy in the fall of 2018. His thesis was titled "Machine Automation and the Critique of Abstract Labor in Hegel's Mature Social Theory." Delhey's thesis committee members were Dr. Sebastian Rand, Dr. Peter Lindsay, and Dr. Calvin Thomas. Delhey is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Toronto.

Nell Hamilton Trotter Award
The Nell Hamilton Trotter Student Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding commitment to student involvement and is the highest student leadership award presented by the university. For nearly 40 years, Nell Hamilton Trotter was a loyal member of the Georgia State University community. She was the first dean of women at Georgia State and served for many years as a dedicated faculty member. Dean Hamilton Trotter personified the ideal qualities students, particularly student leaders, are expected to emulate.
