Georgia State Student Sakinah Muhammed-Worsham Receives Pre-Medicine Funding Award
Georgia State University student Sakinah Muhammed-Worsham recently received the Drs. Kennedy and Nettey Premedical Award. Muhammed-Worsham, of Peachtree City, is a Bachelor's student in Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences. This award was established to alleviate financial barriers for students at Georgia State University applying to medical school programs by assisting with funding for admissions test preparation materials. The College of Arts and Sciences provides a skill-based liberal arts and sciences education for Atlanta's diverse, next-generation workforce.

Georgia State University Student Yoon Namkung Receives Travel Grant
Georgia State University student Yoon Namkung recently received a travel grant to present research at the American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL). Namkung, of Seoul, South Korea, is a Ph.D. student in Applied Linguistics & ESL at the College of Arts and Sciences. Yoon will be presenting with Professor Ute Roemer on their work titled "L2 learners' use of phrase-frames across proficiency levels: Comparing written and oral production." Her travel grant is from Comite International Permanent des Linguistes/Permanent International Committee of Linguists. The AAAL 2023 Conference is a research conference known for its comprehensive linguistic research. The College of Arts and Sciences provides a skill-based liberal arts and sciences education for Atlanta's diverse, next-generation workforce.

Georgia State University student Hodari-Sadiki Hubbard-James was recently named a Graduate Student Medal Winner at the 240th Chambliss Astronomy Achievement Student Awards poster competition. The Chambliss Astronomy Achievement Student Awards are given to recognize exemplary research by undergraduate and graduate students who present at one of the poster sessions at the meetings of the American Astronomical Society. The 240th meeting was held in June in Pasadena, California.

Chanwoo Park Receives International Student Award
Georgia State University student Chanwoo Park recently received the International Undergraduate Student of the Year Award from the university. Park, from South Korea, is a bachelor's student in Computer Science in the College of Arts and Sciences. The International Undergraduate Student of the Year Award aims to honor and recognize outstanding academic achievements, leadership, and contributions to the international community by a Georgia State University international student at the undergraduate level. Park has assisted with International Student Orientation, leading the various events and helping new international students with their questions about Georgia State. He is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa's Alpha Zeta Mu Chapter and served as an International Peer Assistant Student Leader for the International Student and Scholar Services Department at Perimeter College, where he earned an Associate's degree in Computer Science in the Summer of 2022. The College of Arts and Sciences provides a skill-based liberal arts and sciences education for Atlanta's diverse, next-generation workforce.
