The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF) is committed to building tomorrow's hotel industry and the talent to fuel it. AH&LAEF Cecil B. 2021 Honors Recital and Dean's Award
The School of Music annually hosts this prestigious competition where students compete for awards and prizes, the Honors Recital and Dean's Award. The Honors Recital and Dean's Award winner on March 7, was Sue Shin. Dr. Wade Weast, Dean of the College of the Arts, and Dr. Nickitas Demos, Director of the School of Music, were at hand to present Ms. Shin with the well-deserved award. Ms. Shin is from the piano studio of Raffi Besalyan. The Honors Recital and Dean's Award showcases the School of Music's most accomplished soloists selected by audition before an outside jury. Through a highly selective audition process, the recital's participants are determined.

During the course of a year, approximately one-third of the College's Ph.D. students teach one or more course sections as Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs). These awards are given to recognize those GTAs with outstanding teaching records and performance in the classroom during the preceding calendar year.

The two-year, predoctoral fellowship from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA) is given for research training and dissertation work. The fellowship is part of the USDA's Agriculture and Food Research Initiative - Education and Workforce Development program, producing future research leaders in food and agricultural sciences.
