Student Trial Lawyers Association
Georgia State University College of Law extends its congratulations to the newest mock trial team of the Student Trial Lawyers Association for the 2023-2024 academic year. This signifies STLA's commitment to providing students with real courtroom experience, facilitated by professional attorneys and participation in national competitions, bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical legal skills. Notably, many graduates who have been part of STLA go on to successful careers as litigators and district attorneys. In 2020, Georgia State University achieved a remarkable 21st ranking in the U.S. News & World Report for its outstanding Trial Advocacy Programs. This recognition is well-deserved, as the Student Trial Lawyers Association has a proven track record of excellence, boasting an impressive record of 16 national championships, 15 regional championships, and seven second-place finishes in national competitions.

2023 Study Abroad Student of the Year (Niki Nourollahi)
Niki Nourollahi (J.D. '23) has been named the Georgia State University "Study Abroad Student of the Year." Nourollahi is a recent graduate of Georgia State University's College of Law Class of 2023. During her second year of law school, Niki spent her spring semester studying international law at Aarhus University. Niki also previously studied abroad during her undergraduate education at Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business with Toulouse Business School in Toulouse, France for six months. Upon returning to Georgia State Law from Denmark, Niki has maintained relationships with her friends abroad and assisted new international exchange students in Atlanta as they arrived. She is passionate about her study-abroad experience and loves to share with others how the experience has enriched her life. Niki has recently accepted an associate position with Burr & Forman LLP in Atlanta as part of their corporate and tax practice group, with a concentration in securities transactional work. Eleanor McEdwards International Opportunity Scholarship
The Eleanor McEdwards International Opportunity Scholarship is a study abroad scholarship awarded annually to an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. The scholarship was established by Dr. Colleen McEdwards and Scott Burnside in honor of her mother, Eleanor McEdwards, who was dedicated to creating and promoting opportunities for international travel and study among young people. Because of Eleanor's dedication, Dr. McEdwards was able to participate in study abroad programs throughout the former Soviet Union, and then went on to become an anchor and correspondent for CNN International.

Thirty-five rising second-year students will join Georgia State University Law Review for the 2023-2024 term. Georgia State Law students become members of Law Review by invitation, based on exceptional academic standing and performance in a rigorous writing competition.
