2016 Nov 15

Georgia State University School of Public Health Ph.D. candidate Rachel Culbreth, of Atlanta, presented research into rates of HIV, gender-based violence and alcohol use among youth living in the slums of Kampala, Uganda, during the 2016 American Public Health Association (APHA) annual meeting.

The APHA meeting was held Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 in Denver, Colo.

"Among those youth who use alcohol, their rates of HIV is double and nearly double for gender-based violence," Culbreth said.

The APHA is a national non-profit working to advance the health of all people and all communities, as well as providing a science-based voice in policy debates.
