Quyen Chau Receives Kell Award for Academic Achievement

2017 Dec 13

Quyen Chau of Stone Mountain received the Kell Award for academic achievement at Georgia State University's 103rd commencement, held Dec. 13, 2017. The Kell Award is given to the senior who has achieved the highest scholastic average for all course work taken at Georgia State.

Chau majored in Accounting & Finance.

Born in Vietnam, Chau is proud of his Chinese and Vietnamese heritage. Chau is the second person in his family - and first since their emigration to the United States - to graduate from a university with a bachelor's degree.

During his time at Georgia State, Chau maintained his Zell Miller Scholarship and frequently appeared on the President's List and Dean's List. He also helped lead New Student Orientation, interned with Novogradac & Company, volunteered with Jumpstart and worked as an accounting assistant for the Student Center and the communication chair for the Multicultural Programming Council.

His hard work helped him earn the Carr, Riggs & Ingram Scholarship, Ahmet Bozer Study Abroad Scholarship and President's Volunteer Service Award from the White House.

After graduation, Chau will return to Georgia State to earn a master's degree in professional accountancy and pursue his certification as a certified public accountant.
