Public Health Ph.D. Student Akilah Heggs Wins Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association Award

Akilah Heggs, a Ph.D. student at the School of Public Health at Georgia State University, is the 2016 recipient of the Dr. Robert A. Hull Leadership Award from the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Heggs of Atlanta is a trained audiologist and past-president of the Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association (GSHA). Her research focuses on bullying and children with hearing loss.

Heggs received the prestigious leadership award, which recognizes leadership within the field of speech, language and hearing, on Feb. 5, during GSHA's annual meeting at Georgia State's Coastal Center in Savannah.
