Opera Theater Undergraduate Wins First Place at the Collegiate Opera Scene Competition

Kirby Eicholtz, a Georgia State University tenor Opera Theater undergraduate, won first place in Division I at the 2015 Collegiate Opera Scene Competition for his duet with soprano Carolyn Balkovetz. The two singers performed a duet from Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado.

The Collegiate Opera Scene Competition is held annually at the National Opera Association convention. The National Opera Association supports and promotes the appreciation of opera and music theater. This year's convention was held in Greensboro, North Carolina. To be eligible to compete in Division I of the Collegiate Opera Scene Competition, performers must be under 23 years old.
