Jad Elkhalil Named to Sun Belt Leadership Team

2017 Jun 1

Georgia State University men's soccer stand-out Jad Elkhalil of Marietta has been named to the Sun Belt Conference Leadership team, the league office announced in May.

Elkhalil has seen action in nearly 40 games for the Panthers, including 13 starts. He has scored six career goals for GSU, including the deciding goal in the 2015 Sun Belt tournament semifinal game. The forward has posted two game-winning goals in his career at Georgia State.

In April 2017, he was named as a Top-20 Male Semifinalist for the Arthur Ashe Jr., Sports Scholar Award.

He has earned Dean's List honors four times and was honored on the Sun Belt Commissioner's List last fall.

He is joined on the leadership team by Scott Webster (Appalachian State), Quin Wilkes (Little Rock), Alexis Philippe (Arkansas State), Nicholas Clark (Coastal Carolina), Taylor Thompson (Georgia Southern), Grant Horst (Louisiana), Nicholas Coppola (ULM), Kristian Foster (South Alabama), Rebekah VanDijk (UT Arlington), Kassi Hormuth (Texas State) and John Johnson (Troy).

Each Sun Belt institution nominates a student-athlete for the Sun Belt Conference Leadership Team. The honor is given to those that exemplify the highest qualities of being a true student-athlete.
