Francis Annor Successfully Defends PhD Dissertation

Francis Annor of Atlanta, a chronic disease epidemiologist at the Georgia Department of Public Health, successfully defended his dissertation titled "Psychosocial and Oxidative Stress and Health of Adults."

Dr. Annor received his undergraduate degree in Biology and Minor in Chemistry at Georgia State. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in May of 2008.

He earned an MPH at Georgia State in December of 2009. As part of the program, he presented the Master's thesis 'An Examination of the Association between HIV-Related Knowledge, Attitudes, and Behaviors and HIV Status in Ghana'.

During the fall semester of 2011, Dr. Annor was accepted into the PhD program in Public Health as part of the inaugural class for the program. Working with his faculty advisor, Dr. Ike Okosun, Dr. Annor focused on chronic disease epidemiology, particularly on diabetes and hypertension.

He will be the fourth PhD graduate from the School of Public Health at Georgia State University.
