Chloe Palmer Receives Nell Hamilton Trotter Award for Student Leadership

Chloe Palmer, of Buford received the Nell Hamilton Trotter Student Leadership Award for the fall 2016 semester at Georgia State University's 102nd commencement, held Dec. 14, 2016.

The Nell Hamilton Trotter Student Leadership Award, named for the first Dean of Women at Georgia State, recognizes an outstanding commitment to student involvement, and is the highest student leadership award presented by the university.

Palmer, who graduated with a degree in marketing and accounting, has a heart for service and was committed to mentorship throughout her time at Georgia State. As a mentor with the university's Freshman Learning Communities, the Panther L.E.A.P. leadership development program and the Panther Leadership Academy, she connected students to campus resources and leadership opportunities.

Palmer, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., was also the publicity chair for College Girls Rock Inc., the vice president of the Black Sophomore Society and public relations director for Sapphire Society, and has also served in multiple roles with the Quiet Storm Steppers and Mentorship Program.

She is a member of the Honors Student Organization, Robinson Women in Business and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. In 2016, she was inducted into the Collegiate 100 of Atlanta.

While balancing all of her co-curricular responsibilities, she maintained an outstanding academic record and is now planning to obtain a master's degree in professional accountancy from Georgia State's J. Mack Robinson College of Business.
