Carolyn Balkovetz Wins First Place in Division I at the Collegiate Opera Scene Competition

Carolyn Balkovetz, a Georgia State University soprano Opera Theater undergraduate, won first place in Division I at the 2015 Collegiate Opera Scene Competition for her duet with tenor Kirby Eicholtz. The two singers performed a duet from Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado.

The Collegiate Opera Scene Competition is held annually at the National Opera Association convention. The National Opera Association supports and promotes the appreciation of opera and music theater. This year's convention was held in Greensboro, North Carolina. To be eligible to compete in Division I of the Collegiate Opera Scene Competition, performers must be under 23 years old.
